London has a talent for transporting you—one stroll, one sip, one fragrant plate at a time. And few dining experiences capture that feeling as vividly as Dishoom, the beloved Bombay-inspired restaurant group that has turned everyday cravings into small celebrations. Whether you’re planning a first visit or plotting a return trip, Dishoom in London offers a menu that feels both nostalgic and exciting: smoky grills, buttery breads, fragrant curries, and the kind of hospitality that makes you linger.

At the heart of the Dishoom experience is a simple promise: you’ll taste the spirit of Bombay—its street-side energy, its Parsi influences, its comfort-food genius—crafted with care and served with confidence. The result is a restaurant atmosphere that’s lively without being chaotic, stylish without being distant, and deeply satisfying from the first bite.

From Bombay with love. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon chai, dinner, and late tipples. Dishoom pays homage to the Irani cafés and the food of all Bombay. Our cafés are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Walk-ins are always welcome. Also serving on the Dishoom Store and delivery.

Begin the day with a bowl of Date & Banana Porridge or a Bacon Naan Roll. Savour the fragrance of freshly baked pau, the rich salty taste of butter melting on a bun dipped in hot chai, the warm indulgence of Akuri, the wistfulness of a moment.

At lunch, waiters find joy in delivering trays of abundant food to your table. Roomali Roti Rolls, baked and filled to order, humble and delicious Mattar Paneer, or fresh salads. Refresh your afternoon with a drop of Chai and a small plate or two, while a thin coil of sandalwood smoke rises from gently burning incense.

And as evening falls, the café fills with calls of old friends meeting, chatting – a lovely and lively hubbub. To the table come smoky, melt-in-the-mouth grills, slow-cooked and aromatic biryanis, robust and spicy curries. Plates are passed around, shared, enjoyed.

Then, retreat to the Permit Room, ease yourself into a chair, and order an India Gimlet, a Permit Room Old-fashioned, or our very good Dishoom IPA. Take a long draught. Exhale contentedly.

Why Dishoom feels like a journey, not just a meal

Some restaurants feed your appetite; Dishoom feeds your imagination. From the moment you step inside, the space sets the tone—warm lighting, bustling energy, and a soundtrack that feels like it belongs to another city entirely. It’s the kind of place where you’re encouraged to share, to explore, and to order a little more than you planned. The menu reads like a love letter to Bombay’s everyday pleasures, from breakfast rituals to late-night comfort.

Dishoom’s signature dishes are built for discovery. You may arrive thinking you’ll “just try one thing,” only to find yourself building a table around favourites: crisp-edged omelettes, smoky kebabs, rich gravies, and breads that arrive hot enough to steam your anticipation. Even the drinks are part of the story—especially Irani chai, which brings a fragrant, spiced warmth that lingers long after the last sip.

What to order at Dishoom London (and why it works)

If you’re wondering where to begin, start with the dishes Dishoom is known for—then let curiosity guide the rest. The beauty of the menu is its balance: bright flavours alongside deep, comforting richness; vegetarian options that feel complete; and meat dishes that deliver that smoky, char-kissed character you can’t easily replicate at home.

  • Breakfast favourites: Dishoom’s breakfast offerings are a highlight. Think eggs done with personality, indulgent toast-style comforts, and the kind of dishes that make mornings feel special.
  • Smoky kebabs and grills: For many guests, the kebabs are the emotional anchor of the meal—tender, aromatic, and designed to pair beautifully with chutneys and warm bread.
  • Signature curries: Rich, layered gravies bring warmth and depth. They’re satisfying on their own, but even better when combined with rice and breads to scoop up every last bit.
  • Irani chai: A must for first-timers. The tea’s spice and sweetness create a comforting finish that feels distinctly Bombay.
  • Vegetarian confidence: Vegetarian dishes are not an afterthought. They’re crafted with the same attention to seasoning and texture, so you’ll find plenty to love even if you’re sharing with meat-eaters.

The best approach is to mix and match: choose one “wow” dish, one comforting classic, one lighter option (often a salad or bread-based accompaniment), and finish with something sweet or a final round of tea. Dishoom is at its best when your table becomes a small feast of variety.

Dishoom’s standout dishes for every kind of diner

Whether you’re dining as a couple, meeting friends, or planning a family meal, Dishoom adapts to the mood of your day. Here are a few ways to shape the meal around your preferences:

  1. If you love bold flavours: Lean into smoky grilled items and richly spiced curries. Pair them with breads and a warming chai to balance heat and depth.
  2. If you’re craving comfort: Choose dishes that feel hearty and satisfying—think slow, savoury richness and warm, buttery textures.
  3. If you’re vegetarian: Build a spread around vegetable-forward mains and sides. Look for dishes that highlight spice, char, and fresh herbs rather than relying on heaviness.
  4. If you’re a first-timer: Start with a signature crowd-pleaser, add a grilled option, and finish with tea. You’ll leave with a clear sense of Dishoom’s personality.

Dishoom’s menu is designed for sharing, which means your meal becomes a conversation. Ordering together feels natural: you’ll pass plates, compare bites, and discover new favourites without the pressure of “choosing the one right thing.”

Where to find Dishoom in London and how to plan your visit

Dishoom has become a go-to name across London, drawing crowds for both casual meals and special occasions. Because it’s popular, planning helps—especially if you’re visiting at peak times. Booking ahead is often the easiest way to secure your preferred dining window and reduce the chance of waiting.

When choosing where to go, consider the vibe you want. Some locations feel perfect for a lively catch-up, while others are ideal for a relaxed meal where you can take your time. If you’re heading out for breakfast, look for the early slots that allow you to settle in and enjoy the full rhythm of the menu.

For visitors who want a smoother experience, arrive with a light plan rather than a strict checklist. Choose your must-tries, but leave room for seasonal specials and staff recommendations. Dishoom’s teams know how to guide you toward combinations that work—flavours that complement rather than compete.

Pairings that elevate the whole experience

Dishoom isn’t just about what you eat—it’s about how everything fits together. The right pairing turns a good meal into a memorable one. Start with tea to set the tone, then move into mains with a mix of textures: crisp edges, tender interiors, and sauces that cling to bread and rice.

As you build your table, think in contrasts. Choose one smoky element, one rich element, and one fresh or bright accompaniment. That balance is one reason the food feels so satisfying: each bite offers a new sensation, and the overall meal stays cohesive.

Making it a special occasion

Dishoom is wonderfully suited to milestones. It’s celebratory without being formal, warm without being fussy. If you’re planning a birthday dinner, a team meal, or a “we deserve this” night out, the shared-plate style makes it easy to include everyone. The lively atmosphere helps even the most reserved diners feel comfortable.

To make the evening feel extra, consider pacing your order: start with drinks and a couple of starters, enjoy the first wave of flavours, then bring out the mains when you’re ready for the full comfort-food crescendo. Finish with tea and dessert (or a final sweet note) so the meal ends on a glow rather than a rush.

A final word before you book

Dishoom in London isn’t simply a restaurant recommendation—it’s an invitation. An invitation to slow down, to taste deeply, and to experience Bombay-inspired food with the kind of warmth that makes you want to return. From the comfort of Irani chai to the drama of smoky grills and the richness of curries, every element is crafted to feel familiar and fresh at the same time.

If you’re looking for a meal that feels like a mini getaway, Dishoom delivers. Book your table, bring your appetite, and get ready for flavours that linger in the best possible way.
